Interview checklist
Run the same steps with every shortlisted nanny. Assessments help you compare; they do not replace interviews or references.
Step 1
Read the profile before you meet
Note arrangement, expected salary, start date, visa situation, and assessment summaries. Write three must-haves for your household so you are not interviewing from memory.
Step 2
Run the same questions with every candidate
Use this list and keep notes on one worksheet per person. Prefer consistent mid-high scores over one dazzling story.
Step 3
Call two recent families
Ask how long she stayed, what a typical day looked like, how she handled illness or overtime, and whether they would hire her again.
Step 4
Optional structured trial
A paid shadow or trial day with a parent present beats an unpaid “see how it goes” week. Write the hours and duties before she arrives.
Step 5
Put the offer in writing
Salary, rest day, overtime, probation, start date, and who funds first-aid training. Then collect identity, visa, and reference documents before day one.
